Head of the Department of Biology

The Department of Biology is a top-tier research and educational facility at the Faculty of Medicine, providing both theoretical and practical instruction in medical biology for Czech and international students. The institute also coordinates the international Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences and serves as a prominent international center for excellence in biomedical research.

The Department head will be responsible for the management of the Department, undergraduate medical education, doctoral studies, publishing and coordination of research conducted at the department.
The Candidate for Department head will present his/her idea of fulfilling the above during the selection process.

Requirements for a declared position:

  • university education in medical or natural science discipline, or equivalent education obtained abroad;
  • academic degree Ph.D. or scientific rank of CSc.;
  • habilitation within the meaning of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education, the scientific-pedagogical title of professor is an advantage. (This requirement may be substituted by long-term academic experience in an equivalent position abroad).;
  • personal and professional prerequisites for managing the academic team of the department;
  • teaching experience and readiness to guarantee the professional subjects taught in the workplace;
  • significant publication history and active research;
  • ability for innovative project work – submitting projects, managing them, and implementing outcomes;
  • scientific reputation in the international field;
  • personal and moral integrity;
  • fulfilment of prerequisites according to Act No. 451/1991 Coll. (the Lustration Act); (persons born after 1 December 1971 and foreign applicants do not have to prove).
