Microscopy Specialist

The Director of Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC MU) opens a position   MICROSCOPY SPECIALIST Description CELLIM – Cellular Imaging Core Facility is a light microscopy facility of CEITEC MU. Main role is to provide access to state-of-the-art light microscopy techniques and instruments, together with user training and support during all steps of imaging experiment. Currently we are looking for an experienced microscopist, who would be responsible for user assistance and training, microscopes maintenance and developing/performing advanced imaging methods using facility instruments.   CEITEC is a scientific centre in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and technologies whose aim is to establish itself as a recognized centre for basic as well as applied research. (http://muni.ceitec.cz/en/hr-strategy-hrs4r/)   Responsibilities: -          Provide training and assistence to facility users with all steps of imaging experiments -  experimental design, sample preparation, selection of appropriate imaging method/instrument, and image acquisition using all facility instruments -          help with troubleshooting at all levels – from sample preparation to image acquisition -          performing cleaning and maintenance of facility instruments -          teaching microscopy methods on workshops and courses organized by CELLIM -          participating in CELLIM daily operations -          keeping up to date with newest microscopy developments   Requirements: ·         Msc or PhD degree in life science, physics or related field ·         good knowledge of different imaging methods and modalities – widefield, confocal microscopy, FRET, FRAP, lightsheet microscopy, SIM, localization microscopy etc… ·         experience with image analysis tools such as Imaris, ImageJ/Fiji, CellProfiler, ZEN is an advantage ·         ability to work in service oriented mode ·         willing of learning new methods of microscopy ·         excellent interpersonal and communication skills ·         good communication in english language     We offer: ·         Work on various projects on the state-of-the-art light microscopes ·         MU employment benefit ·         Starting date, September 2019 ·         Length of contract – 1 year, with the possibility of extensions.   Anticipated start date: September 2019   For further information, please contact Mgr.
