Postdoctoral Position - Bioinformatician for NGS data analysis

We are looking for a bioinformatician with experience in the analysis of various NGS data from pre-processing to statistical analysis and data mining. The position is open within the international collaborative H2020 project Oncobiome, with the main aim to identify multiomics signatures associated with cancer incidence and progression. The successful candidate will lead the analysis of data from multiomics profiles spanning from targeted (16S rRNA seq) and whole-metagenomic profiles, transcriptomic profiles (RNAseq, miRNA seq), tumour cancer panel profiles (DNAseq) and metabolomic profiles in association with clinical histopathological and prognostic data of colorectal cancer patients in a multicenter study. RECETOX, one of the major research centres of the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, is focused on the research and education in the interdisciplinary field of Exposomics and Health, with a special emphasis on translational bioinformatics for oncology The Bioinformatics in Exposomics group of RECETOX, consisting of engineers, mathematical biologists, bioinformaticians and statisticians, is responsible for the development of methods in the analysis of data from targeted and non-targeted multi-omics experiments, applied multi-omics data analysis from cancer studies, longitudinal exposome studies, and data analysis for support of state-of-the-art infrastructure laboratories of RECETOX.   Profile of the candidate A PhD in the field of biological data analysis (bioinformatics, mathematical biology, statistics, etc.); Strong background in NGS bioinformatics, data mining and applied statistics; At least three journal papers as first or corresponding author in high impact journals in the field; Good command of Linux (including shell programming), R language and at least one other programming language used in NGS bioinformatics (Python, C/C++, etc.); Ability to conceive a long term research plan, prioritize tasks, delegate and supervise the work in order to successfully implement it; Good communication skills; Proficiency in English; Experience in the analysis of cancer data is an advantage.   What do we offer Multidisciplinary environment, interesting and challenging projects; Support for developing independent research career in the field; Possibility to participate in teaching and leading bachelor and master students within the field of Mathematical biology and bioinformatics; State-of-the art omics data from both local and international projects; Opportunity to work on challenging scientific projects related to cancer; Strong computational infrastructure; Competitive salary and employee benefits (including 6 weeks of paid vacation per year, health insurance, subsidized meal vouchers, etc.); The initial contract for one year with the possibility of extension for three years and towards a permanent position based on the performance.   Application Candidates should submit the application including curriculum vitae; motivation letter; publication record from WoS and/or Scopus; contacts of two persons who might provide references.
