Bioinformatics Programmer

The Bioinformatics in exposomics group at RECETOX is looking for an enthusiastic programmer to join the team. The candidate must be interested in developing scientific software solutions for solving challenging bioinformatics problems. S/he will join a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians and data analysts and will have the responsibility of transforming in-house developed methods and analytical pipelines in production-quality solutions. RECETOX, one of the major research centres of the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, is focused on the research and education in the interdisciplinary field of Exposomics and Health, with a special emphasis on translational bioinformatics for oncology The Bioinformatics in Exposomics group of RECETOX, consisting of engineers, mathematical biologists, bioinformaticians and statisticians, is responsible for the development of methods in the analysis of data from targeted and non-targeted multi-omics experiments, applied multi-omics data analysis from cancer studies, longitudinal exposome studies, and data analysis for support of state-of-the-art infrastructure laboratories of RECETOX.   Profile of the candidate MSc or equivalent in computer science or, alternatively, in Mathematics, Statistics or Bioinformatics (or similar); Strong algorithmic and programming skills; Proficiency in R and at least two other programming languages from Python, Perl, C, C++, Java, Matlab, Fortran; Good knowledge of numerical methods for linear algebra and at least a basic understanding of optimization techniques; Knowledge of web programming, while not mandatory, would be a plus; Fluency in English.   What do we offer Opportunity to work on cutting-edge of bioinformatics method development and to make an impact on final scientific results; Chance to contribute to scientific publications; Strong computational infrastructure; Competitive salary and employee benefits (including 6 weeks of paid vacation per year, health insurance, subsidized meal vouchers, etc.)   Application Candidates should submit the application including curriculum vitae; motivation letter; contacts of two persons who might provide references.
