MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships Applicant

Within the Cognitive Ethology Research Group and Department of Zoology, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoc who would be willing to submit a research proposal into Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions - Postdoctoral Fellowships with Dr. Pavel Linhart as a partner. (MSCA PF, ; ). Dr. Linhart studies acoustic communication in animals with the main focus on individual recognition, individual identity signalling, and acoustic monitoring of terrestrial animals. In his current projects he employs owls, wolves, and rooks as model animals.  ( ).

In the past years, many high quality and fully eligible projects were not funded under MSCA PF scheme due to high number of applications submitted. Projects that are carried out in Czechia will have triple chance to be funded in the 2021 call: within the main competition, within Widening fellowships (Czechia belongs to the ‘widening countries’), and within the Operational programme John Amos Comenius by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (projects getting over 70% score will be funded).

We are looking for a highly motivated young scientist (8 years after PhD maximum, not employed in Czechia in previous years – see MSCA PF criteria) with the interest especially in one of the following areas who would like to share his/her qualification to strengthen the emerging basic and applied bioacoustics research programme within the group:

  • Machine learning, Artificial intelligence, Programming
  • Phylogenetic comparative analyses
  • Comparative cognition
  • Population genetics / genomics
  • Visual signalling
  • Human voice

Candidates with other qualifications are encouraged to get in contact with Dr. Linhart and discuss potential fit within the research programme of the group. Candidates with or without precise idea for the project are also welcome to apply, we would develop suitable project together.
