Job description:

The Center for Comparative Law at Charles University Faculty of Law seeks to fill the position of Ph.D. Researcher for the ERC CZ Project on Identity and Constitutions in the EU and MENA regions. This interdisciplinary research project investigates the role of constitutions and constitutionalism in forging collective political identity in different cultural environments bringing together constitutional lawyers,
political scientists, and sociologists.

The candidate must hold a law degree, have an experience with conducting independent research, strong team-working skills, and an interest to work in a multidisciplinary and international research setting. Knowledge of an additional language (Dutch, Polish, or Hungarian in particular) is an advantage.

The successful candidate will conduct research for his dissertation on certain aspects of the project in agreement with the PI and present and publish his findings. He/she will participate in preparation of application for further external funding, manage the project website, and may also be required to coordinate student research assistants, contribute to lectures and teaching, prepare conferences, peer-review draft papers of other team members, edit and proof-read draft publications, and assist the PI in his research, teaching, and outreach tasks.

The successful candidate will be offered two-year employment contract starting on November 1, 2021 and required to pass the Ph.D. admission procedure in the spring semester of 2022. After the admission to the doctoral program, the Ph.D. candidate may be eligible for an additional stipend.
