Jiří Vondrášek Group at IOCB Prague is seeking a postdoctoral researcher fully focused on artificial intelligence in the life sciences. The role centers on working with foundation models for proteins and DNA/genomic sequences, and on overseeing and helping shape AI-driven use cases brought in by collaborating research groups across the institute and across Europe.
This position benefits from two major connections: direct engagement with the Czech AI Factory, and close ties to the highly active ELIXIR community (IOCB Prague hosts the ELIXIR CZ node), giving you access to infrastructure, data resources, and a strong network of collaborators across European life-science AI efforts.
Requirements
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, machine learning, or a related computational field
- Hands-on experience with foundation models / large-scale deep learning, ideally applied to protein or nucleic acid sequences
- Ability to work independently and to translate diverse scientific use cases (brought by wet-lab and computational colleagues alike) into workable AI approaches
- Strong communication skills – this role involves regular interaction with collaborating groups
- Good command of English
We offer
- A postdoctoral position with direct access to Czech AI Factory computational resources
- Integration into the ELIXIR CZ community and its European network
- A leading role in shaping how foundation models are applied across life-science projects at IOCB Prague
- Competitive salary + health and social insurance
- 5 weeks of vacation plus 4 days of personal leave and additional employee benefits
- Support for parents with young children
- International work environment, location in central Prague
- Work on cutting-edge topics with immediate impact
